Scratch
Here you will find older scratches, musings and other detritus that once were located on the front pages, but have now faded.
Filed away here to collect dust and cobwwwebs in perpetuity, links may break, facts may change and data may corrupt.
On occasion I may come down here to tidy, but for the most, I prefer to leave the past where it lies.
Hotel Booking
I know I've had two months, but I never expected to meet such resistance...
Checked out the website when it finally lets me on, only to find no available rooms. Ring up Customer services and speak to Emma, who informs me there are no vacancies, but recommends I keep an eye on the online booking slip to see if any come up, saying if I'dve booked sooner...
About ten minutes later, instead of trying to book the evening of the 8th May, I happen to book a room for the evenings of the 7th & 8th May. Strangely it says it has vacancies. I decide this is odd and call customer services back and speak to Emma. I ask her if these dates are correct and she confirms them. I ask her why if she has a room spare on both nights, why doesn't she have a room spare individually. She doesn't know, muses and then makes a noise which was either a mallard being trodden on or bubble gum being blown against the handset. I pause as the visions leave my head, and then I ask her if she could book a room on the evening of the 8th. She replies in a muffled tone she can't as there are no vacancies. I point out that she just said that there were vacancies. She replies "Oh, yes".
I ask can I book a room. She says "yes", and asks me what time I'm arriving on the 7th. I said I don't want a room on the 7th, just on the 8th. She says "Hmm, we don't have any *pop* vacancies for then". I ask her if there is any reason she knows of why I can have a room on the 7th and 8th, but not just the 8th. Receiving a negative reponse with more chewing, I ask her if there is any way round this. She asks whether I have tried booking online. I ask here if there is anyone else I can speak to. In a cheery voice she replies "Not at the moment *pop*". At this point I pause. I can hear the victory in her chewing.
Acknowledging I am beaten I say "Thank you, to which I receive a cheery "*pop* Your welcome", then dial tone...
