Scratch
Here you will find older scratches, musings and other detritus that once were located on the front pages, but have now faded.
Filed away here to collect dust and cobwwwebs in perpetuity, links may break, facts may change and data may corrupt.
On occasion I may come down here to tidy, but for the most, I prefer to leave the past where it lies.
Site/Server Upgrades
Well I finally upgraded the MT installation from 2.6 up to 3.15. The process seemed to go smoothly, but now I am getting errors on rebuilds, usually accompanied with the line
Not an ARRAY reference at ..\MT\plugins\CatEntries.pl line 95. or the line Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at ../MT/lib/MT/Entry.pm line 243The rebuild seems to go through ok, and this error does seem rather random as to where and when it occurs, I believe it is primarily on the date based archives. Perhaps a bit more investigation is needed. In hindsight, perhaps I should've upgraded one of the other sites first to see how it went, but I suspect its down to plugins rather than problems with MT itself.
On the server, I also installed a new shell in the form of Aston, which seems to be running smoothly with no major hiccups. Getting used to the feel takes a bit after years of Linux and Windows GUIs, but it is quite intuitive so I am sure it won't take too long. The one benefit of alternative shells is that you can always change the settings if you don't like them.
I also installed a desktop imaging software so you can see the results of it and the shell here.
