Scratch

Here you will find older scratches, musings and other detritus that once were located on the front pages, but have now faded.

Filed away here to collect dust and cobwwwebs in perpetuity, links may break, facts may change and data may corrupt.

On occasion I may come down here to tidy, but for the most, I prefer to leave the past where it lies.

TV

What a week its been for the two shows I watch regularly, and whilst they are either close to ending or already having done so, new ones are on the horizon.

Rome finished fittingly, in a sanguine soaked crucendo. Knowing the outcome from the start did not diminsh my enthusiasm for what I consider to be a bloody (pun intended) decent and engrossing adaptation. Knowing that season 2 is greenlit I guess I'm gonna have to make room on my shelf for the inevitable DVD boxset.

Elsewhere we see Lost ramping up as it rolls on. Not much to say, just gotta wait 5 days to see the last episodes. If I wanted to I could watch the complete first season which I already have on DVD, but knowing that Channel 4 cut most of the shows, it gives me an excuse to watch all the episodes again to see what was cut.

Both of these will be finished by next week, so its seems rather fortunate that new shows are winging this way.

The first if these I have just finished watching, and that is My Name is Earl, which I believe shows a lotta potential. The second of these starts on Sunday in the form of Invasion. The best part of this, it means no more having to stay up to watch good tv on a week night. Needless to say I can still stay up to watch crap tv but if, as usually happens, I fall asleep, I don't miss anything good.

On the subject of crap TV, Celebrity Big Brother has started once again, and whilst I won't dwell on the prescence of George Galloway as this has been done to death elsewhere I did take the opportunity to look up his parliamentary record on They Work For You.

  • Has spoken in 4 debates since the General Election — 556th out of 646 MPs
  • Has received answers to 4 written questions since the General Election — 450th out of 646 MPs
  • Replied within 14 days to 50% of messages sent via FaxYourMP.com during 2004 — 398th out of 590 MPs
  • Has attended 15% of votes in parliament — 634th out of 645 MPs
See what your MP does for you.
