Scratch

Here you will find older scratches, musings and other detritus that once were located on the front pages, but have now faded.

Filed away here to collect dust and cobwwwebs in perpetuity, links may break, facts may change and data may corrupt.

On occasion I may come down here to tidy, but for the most, I prefer to leave the past where it lies.

Site Update

Well then. As you can see the large proportion of the site changes have been done. Whilst the three column layout hasn't changed per se, the coding behind it has been completely redone. Most of the archives have been re-worked, the index pages updated and occasionally the content refined.

Over the next few weeks, I'll make some further content changes, and minor tweaks, but it should be relativey straight forward (hopefully).

There a few glitches (that I know), mostly browser specific that I haven't quite managed to either find a better solution or a decent hack. The main one is that IE doesn't display the styleswitcher in the top bar correctly. It should look like styleswitcher bar but it doesnt. The other main bug, is that in the fluid black and white stylesheet for the date based writing archives, doesn't appear to work correctly and I just don't know why

(Edit: 2006-03-27 07:46 Mozilla 1.7 only).

Lastly, the comment authentication system needs some changes, but it should be fine if you dont try and sign in via TypeKey.

(Edit: 2006-03-26 21:55: Ok. The TypeKey authentication is up and running. Working on the OpenID and hope to have that up in a day or so. Need to neaten the code for this bit, but that'll be there soon. Nighty night.)

Leave a comment or drop me some mail to let me know what you think. If you see something that you think doesn't look like it should please let me know what page, what style and what browser you are using and I'll look into it.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you. Needless to say I won't be doing this again anytime soon.

Oooh, bad comment icon floating in the middle of the comment. Must change that.

Also found why the OpenID stuff wasn't working. When the button was clicked, nothing happened. And the reason...I forgot to install the perl code. D'Oh!

And to both 'Smully' and 'I' use you own email address or the spam filter kicks in ;). 'I' yours got junked. which is why I didn't respond. Sorry. The answer is about 250ish.
