Scratch
Here you will find older scratches, musings and other detritus that once were located on the front pages, but have now faded.
Filed away here to collect dust and cobwwwebs in perpetuity, links may break, facts may change and data may corrupt.
On occasion I may come down here to tidy, but for the most, I prefer to leave the past where it lies.
Richard Matheson

An SF novel about vampires . . .
Robert Neville is the last living man on Earth . . . but he is not alone. Every other man, woman and child on the planet has become a vampire, and they are hungry for Neville's blood.
By day he is the hunter, stalking the undead through the runins of civilisation. By night, he barricades himself in his home and prays for the dawn.
How long can one man survive like this?
A truly amazing novel that has not really dated in the 50 years since it was written. It deals with strong themes such as life and the question of humanity, and at what point the preservation thereof becomes its undoing. Throughout there are underlying themes of introspection, loneliness and emotional claustrophobia, and the blend between sci-fi, horror is perfectly balanced with black humour.
A thought provoking well written story, that after finishing left me both satisfied and 'wowed'.
