An American Werewolf in London

Perhaps one of the must see horror classics. From my point of view, it has everything you could ask for - an excellant script, engaging characters, suspense, frightening set-pieces and laugh out loud humour.
The story sees Americans David and Jack backpacking in northern England when they are attacked and Jack is killed and David is bitten by a wild beast. Taken to hospital in London, David falls in love with his nurse, Alex and rather painfully, in one of cinemas best pre-cgi werewolf transformations. As if his problems could not be any worse, he is constantly visted by an increasingly decomposed Jack trying to persuade him to kill himself and end the curse.
IMHO, its worth watching for transformation, the Underground chase sequence and the finale. Whilst being gory, it is shocking and in its own way romantic. An unforgettable horror classic that has it all.
