Scratch

Here you will find older scratches, musings and other detritus that once were located on the front pages, but have now faded.

Filed away here to collect dust and cobwwwebs in perpetuity, links may break, facts may change and data may corrupt.

On occasion I may come down here to tidy, but for the most, I prefer to leave the past where it lies.

We interrupt what would be 'normal' Christmas programming or any of the stuff about what I did, how much turkey I ate (which BTW was very little) or anything else about the festive period, to just make a mental note about Critters which I happen to be watching.

In my youth, I was scared by several films, Critters was one of them. Unlike another, Poltergeist which I continue to dislike - the reason for which I do not know, I have come to love Critters and the roguish 'Crites, who to me now seem now more that slightly insane hedgehogs with shark teeth. I couldn't tell you why, but I now really enjoy it. I think its probably mostly to do with the puppetry and the strange expressions that a small ball of fur with sharp teeth can actually manage.

Certainly more comedy and less scare in hindsight, with such scenes as:

Critter 1: They have weapons
Critter 2: So what
[Critter 2 is shot off the porch]
Critter 1: Fuck!
or the Crite that talks to the E.T. plush doll before losing its temper and biting its head off its definately one to get hold to kill time whilst drinking beer with friends.
