This book sees Rachel Morgan facing an increasing number of bad guys out to get her and an increasingly complicated and strained friendship circle supporting her. Some threads from the first two books are continued others finished, whilst new threads that will run through the next books are introduced.

The characters continue to develop, the plot is advanced well and nothing feels stale or out of place.
